For Teachers

An AI detector built for the way real classrooms work.

Sentence-level AI scoring you can actually discuss with a student. Text is never saved to our database, never used to train models, and never shared. Starts at $0.99/mo.

Why teachers choose ShaamAI

FERPA-aware by default

Student essays are analyzed over HTTPS and discarded — not stored in our database, not used for training, not shared with third parties. Only aggregate metadata is retained.

Evidence, not a verdict

Every report highlights the exact sentences that triggered AI signals, with a confidence rating. You can have a specific conversation with a student, not just show them a number.

Priced for a teaching load

$9.99/mo covers 1,000 checks with 5,000 words each — a full roster of essays, every month. No per-seat negotiation. No enterprise contract required.

A fair workflow for every suspect essay

  1. 1

    Paste or upload the essay

Paste directly or upload .docx / .pdf / .txt. Use Pro or Ultra for batch uploads when you have a whole class to review.

  2. 2

Review the overall score + sentence highlights

The aggregate score is the headline; the sentence-level detail is the evidence. Note which specific sections were flagged.

  3. 3

    Compare to known student work

Pull up previous assignments. Does the voice match? Did the vocabulary jump? Side-by-side comparison is one of the most reliable signals you have.

  4. 4

Have a conversation, not an accusation

Ask the student to walk through their argument and show earlier drafts. A high score warrants a conversation — never a decision on its own.

What ShaamAI is — and isn’t

We would rather be useful to you than oversell what the tool can do.

What ShaamAI is

  • • A fast, privacy-respecting detection tool for AI-generated writing
  • • Sentence-level evidence you can bring to an academic-integrity conversation
  • • A standalone web app — paste an essay and get results in seconds
  • • Affordable for individual teachers without institutional contracts

What ShaamAI isn’t

  • • An LMS integration — we don’t plug into Canvas, Schoology, or Google Classroom
  • • A plagiarism checker — it looks for AI-generation signals, not copied text
  • • A verdict machine — high scores are signals, not proof
  • • 100% accurate — no detector is, and we will always be honest about that

Teacher FAQ

Is ShaamAI safe to use with student work under FERPA?

ShaamAI is designed to be FERPA-conscious: student text is transmitted over HTTPS to our servers for the duration of each analysis request and is never saved to our database. We do not use student writing to train models and never share it with third parties. Only anonymous metadata (word count, score, confidence) is retained. Before using any detection tool institutionally, confirm compliance with your school’s privacy policies.

Can ShaamAI integrate directly with Canvas, Schoology, or Google Classroom?

Not yet. ShaamAI is a standalone web tool — you paste or upload essays directly. If LMS integration is a requirement, institutional platforms like Turnitin may fit better. Many teachers still prefer ShaamAI alongside their LMS because it offers sentence-level detail their LMS plagiarism checker does not.

How should I respond if a student’s essay scores high?

Treat the score as a signal, not a verdict. Review the sentence-level highlights to see which sections were flagged, compare the essay to the student’s previous work, and have a direct conversation about their writing process. No student should face consequences based on a probability score alone. See our guide on how to verify AI use without false accusations.

What about false positives — especially for ESL students?

Every AI detector has a false-positive rate, and certain writing styles — formal, concise, non-native English — can trigger AI signals even when the work is genuine. That is why ShaamAI gives you sentence-level detail and a confidence rating. If the flags are scattered and the confidence is “low” or “medium”, that is a sign to investigate further, not to accuse. Read more about false positives and how to interpret them.

How many essays can I check with a Pro or Ultra plan?

Pro ($0.99/mo) includes 100 checks per month — enough for a small class. Ultra ($9.99/mo) includes 1,000 checks per month, which covers a full teaching load. Both tiers support up to 5,000 words per essay and batch uploads of multiple files or a ZIP archive.

Can students appeal their score?

They should. ShaamAI provides sentence-level highlights and a confidence rating so both teacher and student can look at the same evidence. We recommend having the student walk through their writing process, show earlier drafts, and discuss specific flagged passages — the kind of conversation that builds trust and surfaces real issues either way.
